Beauclerc Breakfast Club
We have been running a Breakfast Club at Beauclerc for just over 6 years. My name is Mrs Horton and I am the Club’s Manager, I am also the Teaching Assistant in Red Class (Reception/Year1) and a lunchtime supervisor. I have a Level 3 QCF qualification. The club’s assistant is Miss Azel.
Weekly or daily sessions need to be pre-booked in advance. The club is open from 7.45 am-8.45am to the whole school (including our nursery). Our charges are £3.00 for the session and an additional £1.50 per sibling.
The Club has children from the Nursery and Main School and we encourage the older children to play with and help the younger ones and any new children settle in. They are helped by the two Breakfast Buddies. This is a fantastic social opportunity for making new friends. We find that the Nursery children settle in quicker when they come to the main school because they are familiar with the school and they already know some of the older children and staff.
We have a selection of games both physical and board, books to read, puzzles, colouring, writing and soft toys. Laptops are also available for children to use. We have a reward system to encourage good behaviour, being helpful and good manners. The children can receive a certificate which is given out each month, they also receive stickers. We have a front line system where each child gets the opportunity to lead the children from Breakfast Club to their classes.
As a result of a couple of surveys sent out to parents and the children who come to the club we have implemented additions to our menu (within SCC guidelines for nutrition) and suggestions the children made about what they would like to do at the club, new games and toys.
The following is part of our fantastic and varied range of healthy foods and drink available on a daily basis. Head Start Omega 3 Bread, Hovis Best of Both, Kingsmill 50/50, white and wholemeal muffins, Healthy eating pancakes and croissants. Multigrain cereals, Weetabix, rice crispies, cornflakes etc. All served with semi-skimmed milk. A selection of fruit and yoghurts are occasionally available. Fresh water, milk and a selection of fresh fruit juices are available and we also have milkshake and hot chocolate sometimes. We encourage the children to have good table manners.
If you are interested in coming along to the Breakfast Club please see the Manager or the office for more information.
We are a very friendly club and we look forward to seeing you very soon.
