Spring 1
It has again been a very busy and fun filled half term with an absolute – but VERY COLD highlight of our trip to Whipsnade Zoo.
In English, we embarked on creative writing based on the text Meerkat Mail. The children thoroughly enjoyed crafting postcards, honing their skills in using commas in lists, expanded noun phrases, apostrophes for contractions, and conjunctions.
Following our fabulous trip to Whipsnade Zoo, we wrote recounts of our experience, making use of time adverbials, adjectives, adverbs, and apostrophes for possession.
In our geography lessons, we shifted our focus to hot and cold places across the globe, examining the equator and learning how to locate different regions on the map. We also explored the various human and physical features of these areas, which linked beautifully with our science learning. It was interesting to see how different environments affect the creatures that inhabit them, and the children showcased impressive skills in identifying diverse landscapes.
In Maths, we looked at shapes – 2D and 3D – using the mathematical vocabulary for vertices, faces, edges…
In Design and Technology (D&T), We have been busy investigating linkages and mechanisms, experimenting with different ways to create movement. We designed our very own monsters, and made them into moving creatures..
This term has again been filled with wonderful learning experiences.
Where will our learning and adventures in and out of the classroom take us next?
