Communication With Parents

Communication is key to enable parents to work in partnership and support their child’s education. We try to keep parents up to date with both school events and their child’s progress during their time with us.

We believe partnership is key, your child’s well-being and safety is our main concern – working together enables your child to reach for the sky and shine brightly.

We provide all parents with the following communications:

Contacting Staff

If you need to contact a member of staff, please call into the school office.  Our office staff will be happy to make you an appointment.  Alternatively, you can make a note in your child’s pupil planner, telephone the school office on 01932 785477 or e-mail info@chennestone.surrey.sch.uk

Newsletters

Newsletters are sent out fortnightly via email.   If you think you may have missed a newsletter, these can all be found on our website.

Text Messages - Teachers2Parents

For non urgent information (reminders of school trips, up coming events etc) we are able to text parents.  This service will also be used for extraordinary events, i.e. unexpected school closures.  The text message service sends a message to the mobile telephone number of named contacts.  Please ensure that we have your up to date details.

Pupil Planners

At the start of the academic year, KS1 and KS2 children, receive a yearly planner free of charge.  This is used by the pupils to record homework, items needed in school etc, but is also for parents to communicate with staff.  The planner also has excellent information for parents regarding literacy, numeracy, science and many other items.  Please take time to go through the planner with your child.  If the planner is lost, replacements can be bought from the school office at a cost of £5.

Pupil’s Progress

There is an opportunity for parents to meet teaching staff to discuss their child’s progress twice a year,  October and March.  Details of these Parent Consultation Meetings are sent out on our newsletters and appointments can be made online via your SCOPAY account. If you wish to discuss your child’s progress at any other time, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Open Classroom Afternoons

This is an informal opportunity for families to visit classrooms and 'mingle' with staff.  Children can explain learning in their exercise books, in artwork and through items on display.  The children are rightly proud of their efforts and wish for more occasions to share these with parents, grandparents, carers and siblings.

Class Representatives

As part of our ongoing commitment to working with parents, each class is represented by a parent to form a school partnership group.  The group meets regularly with the Head Teacher and senior staff to provide an informal forum to discuss school.

Emergency Info

In the event of an emergency school closure, the following radio stations will provide information to parents. We will keep you updated via the website and texts/Teachers2Parents.
