Summer 1

This term may only have been a short one but we have filled the weeks with lots more exciting learning.

We looked at Plants in Science and enjoyed a nice sunny and warmer day at Kew Gardens where we experienced different habitat for plants to grow in and felt how dry the air was in the desert but how hot and moist it was in a rainforest.

In English we had great fun with the story ‘WILD’ all about a little girl who appeared in the forest and was then brought up by the animals. We enjoyed innovating our own versions of the story using an animal that wouldn’t normally be in a forest.

In Geography we visited the island country of Australia which makes up most of the continent of Oceania. We compared their seasons to our seasons and different physical features (there ones are much bigger than ours!) We also enjoyed learning about the very different animals who live there. We also learnt about the Australian Aborigines who were the first people to live there and are indigenous to the country.

In Maths, we have looked at measuring with centimetres and metres, millilitres and litres grams and kilograms and have looked at reading a thermometer.
